Baroka football club was formed in 2007, after purchasing the status of Simple Yellow football club in the Capricon SAB region. In 2008 the name of the club was changed to BAROKA FOOTBALL CLUB.This is the club with a rich history. It remains the only team from SAFA second division to receive an invitation in 2011 from a National Team Bafana Bafana for a friendly match in Rustenburg, Baroka Football Club lost 4-2. It’s the only team to beat two Soweto giants Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Cheifs during Nedbank cup competition. Only lose to Black Leopards in the penalty shoot-out in the semi-finals. It’s the first team in the history of South African Football to reach the semi-finals from Second division of SAFA. It remains the only club that has attracted full capacity at New Peter Mokaba Stadium against Kaizer Chiefs. It’s the only team that had won all the National Play offs matches in South African Football Association. In 2008 Baroka Football Club won the SAB provinicial playoffs that was held in the Sekhukhune leading to the second division of SAFA and came second to Roses United from Free State Province. In 2010 Barako Football Club won the provincial second division league and went to Cape Town to participate in the playoffs, they came second to Sevutsa FC from Mpumalanga, that won the promotion of that play off to be promoted to PSL first division.
In 2011 the team lost the first eleven players to PSL team due to the Nedbank cup success and was left with only two center backs Dineo Shaku and Boy Boy Thomo. It was the most difficult year in the history of the club as the management; the technical team didn’t take a break for the season like other teams during off season. We had to find the replacements for the entire players those who left the club for greener pastures. The under 19 tournament was organized and sponsored by the clubs in the Capricorn Region with the aim of finding the replacement. During the tournament one of the six signed under 19 players was the top goal scorer of that season, his name is Thabiso Kutumela. They signed younger player whom they didn’t disappoint as they went all the way to win a league. At the beginning of 2012 we signed few experienced players to supplement the young players that we had with the aim of winning the league for the third time in succession and alternatively win the National Play Offs after failing to gain promotion in two occasions, the club has finally won the National Playoffs.
