Baroka FC will square off with Swallows FC in a DStv Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.

Kick-off is at 5pm CAT.

Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele are now winless in their last eight matches in the league when they drew 0-0 with Orlando Pirates away last week.

Therefore, the Limpopo side remained 14th on the league standings – level on points with 16th placed Swallows and they will be hoping to move further away from the relegation zone with a win over Swallows.

Kgoloko Thobejane, the Baroka head coach, was disappointed to see his side fail to take their chances against Pirates and he has urged his charges to focus on their next game.

“As I’ve told you, this is about quality, precision, accuracy, intensity, power, strength,” Thobejane said.

“If that is the case, I don’t see any problem with Baroka moving upward. But what can we do? Two clear chances, [Sekela] Sithole just bent it far post, then it’s football.

“What can we say, we must just accept it and move forward and look into the next game. What we need is three points but with this one, it’s better than nothing.”

Meanwhile, Swallows extended their winless run to 12 matches in the DStv Premiership when they drew 1-1 with Maritzburg United at home over the weekend.

The draw saw Amaswaiswai remain 16th on the league standings – two points behind 12th-placed Marumo Gallants and a win over Baroka could take them outside the relegation zone.

Fani Madida, who was in charge of Swallows against Maritzburg with coach Dylan Kerr awaiting his work permit, was impressed by Amaswaiswai players’ performance against Maritzburg.

“With the resilience we showed you could see it is a work in progress. There is a big light at the end of the tunnel,” Madida said.

“We did well, we fought and that’s what we needed to do because Maritzburg are a team that fights and if they come and you allow them to bulldoze you, they will win the game.”

Baroka FC: PLAYERS TO WATCH

Oscarine Masuluke:The towering goalkeeper is one of the reasons why Baroka did not lose to Pirates as he pulled off some fine saves to keep the Buccaneers at bay. Masuluke will be determined to keep another clean sheet.

Evidence Makgopa:The reigning DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season has now failed to score in his last four league matches and he will be hungry for goals when he faces a Swallows defence which has been leaking goals.

Swallows FC: PLAYERS TO WATCH

Wandisile Letlabika:The experienced defender scored his first goal for Swallows against Maritzburg and it rescued a point for Amaswaiswai. Letlabika will be hoping to play a key role in helping Swallows collect the maximum points in Polokwane.

Lebohang Makoena:The Swallows captain is in good form at the moment having scored against Kaizer Chiefs, before grabbing an assist in the draw with Maritzburg. Mokoena will be eager to lead his troops to a victory over Baroka.
